Area Police
Around 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.
Officers report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a swastika, they added.
Law enforcement then found multiple other smeared cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report early analysis show the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; officials are currently not aware of any physical harm in association with the event," they added.
Local authorities announced they were working "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the community for information.
A high-ranking political figure commented the vandalism made him speechless and had to be resolved quickly.
"This event affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, recalling the killing of nine people by a assailant aiming at residents of migrant background in February 2020.
